Serving the communities of Cave Creek and Carefree, Arizona, the Cave Creek Unified School District consists of elementary schools (5), middle school (1), and high school (1). The schools serving the elementary school population are Black Mountain, Desert Sun Academy, Desert Willow, Horseshoe Trails, and Lone Mountain. Sonoran Trails is the middle school and Cactus Shadows is the high school. DESERT SUN ACADEMY
This school provides opportunities for Art, Music, and Physical Education classes every day for all students, as well as Spanish language classes. Ukulele classes are offered to 5th grade students, and guitar lessons are available for 6th grade students. Desert Sun Academy has created several support groups to ensure each student is academically challenged to his/her potential and has many opportunities for growth alongside the normal classes.
SONORAN TRAILS MIDDLE SCHOOL
This middle school has a philosophy of encouraging students to learn in a safe and healthy environment. Many opportunities exist for parent involvement, starting with working alongside the student’s teachers to gain the best understanding of a student’s unique learning needs. A variety of curricular and extra-curricular activities and programs are available to heighten each child’s learning experiences, as well as 14 competitive sports teams and many enrichment clubs.
CACTUS SHADOWS HIGH SCHOOL
Cactus Shadows High School is home to the Girls Falcon Golfers, the State Champions! The school’s motto is “A world class high school for the 21st century.” Eighty-seven percent of graduating students go on to pursue a higher level of education. A variety of clubs are available to fit students’ interests, from the Art Alliance and Band clubs to the Fashion club and the Yearbook club.
