With the fall upon us, football season is in full swing again. Whether you live, work, or play in the Valley, football is nearby with the Arizona Cardinals, Arizona State University, or University of Arizona teams.
Arizona Cardinals
The University of Phoenix Stadium was unique at its inception in 1997. Much hard work and determination of all those involved were extracted to make the dream of this stadium come alive. It was named one of the Top 10 impressive sports facilities in the world by Business Week magazine. The Arizona Cardinals are the oldest professional football team in the U.S. that has been continuously run. They started as the Morgan Athletic Club in 1898.
The stadium, located in Glendale, just west of Phoenix, seats 63,400, with 88 luxury suites available. The retractable roof can open in just 12 minutes. The Arizona Cardinals host the Dallas Cowboys on Monday, September 25, for the Monday Night Football game. They host the Seattle Seahawks on November 9 for Thursday night football.
Arizona State University
The Arizona State Sun Devils represent ASU well in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). They are also part of the Pac-12 conference of southern Arizona. The ASU Sun Devils have groomed some of the most acclaimed players, including Terrell Suggs, Darren Woodson, John Henry Johnson, Mike Haynes, Charley Taylor, and Pat Tillman. The Sun Devil Stadium is located in Tempe and offers a great venue to watch head coach Todd Graham direct talented players into the history books.
University of Arizona
The Wildcats are the football team for the University of Arizona. The Arizona Stadium has a capacity for nearly 56,000 Wildcat fans as they watch head coach Rich Rodriquez guide the players to another win. Naturally, ASU’s Sun Devils and the Arizona Wildcats are staunch rivals. The Territorial Cup is an annual play date for the two teams. Watch out Sun Devils – Coach Rodriquez is reported to have been very pleased with the Wildcats football camp practice in August 2017.
Being able to see these games in person and cheer on your favorite players is both exciting and rewarding. Paradise Valley is teeming with opportunities to enjoy the 2017 football season.
