These 2,000 acres in Mesa were once raw desert, then became a thriving working cattle ranch, and by the mid-1970s, was transformed into a master-planned community complete with a golf course. While Dobson Ranch was considered remote in its early days, today it's conveniently and centrally located in the heart of Mesa off Dobson Road just south of Baseline Road. With Loop 101 and U.S. Highway 60 just a mile away to the west and north respectively, residents of Dobson Ranch can quickly find their way to downtown Phoenix, the airport and beyond. The quick-growing East Valley enclaves of Chandler and Gilbert are just minutes away as well, as are Tempe and Ahwatukee.

The Dobson Ranch Golf Course is the city of Mesa's only municipal course and is located on what was part of the original Dobson family's personal ranch. The course opened in 1973 and is set on 145 acres. The space includes a public park as well as a recreation center with a public pool.
